PostcardViewer Update

PostcardViewer has been updated. PostcardViewer is a free, customizable Flash image viewer. The interface is based on the real world metaphor of a set of postcards shuffled onto a surface.

I’ve also posted a Picasa web template to make creating your PostcardViewer galleries really easy. Just select your images in Picasa and click “Export as Web Page…”. Thanks to Albert W Alberts for the template.

One other update worth mentioning: the SimpleViewer Picasa web template has also been updated.

Hi. First i’d like to say that your image gallery software is great. exactly what i needed. There is a nice thing for iphoto when you use simpleviewer but is there going to be something for postcardviewer also? something to make work easier.

  5. octiliniu says:

i totally agree with Justin !

however, i really miss one feature: being able to specify the imagePath and thumbPath values from within the imageData.xml file like with the SimpleViewer !!!

any chance we’ll see that feature in PostcardViewer any time soon ?

Great image viewers. I’ll put them into action right away.

A great feature in PostCard viewer would be to turn it into an album viewer as well. I have a lot of different photo albums that I want to give my family and friends access to, and it would be great if each thumbnail postcard could be a link that opens an album.

I love that it is not necessary to use thumbnails in PostCard viewer even if loading times would be faster with thumbnails (but I am not exactly busy when viewing photos online).

    Hello,

I like your tools – they are relly great!!!

And -as Kaarel says- I also “miss” a litle “helper” for iApps like iPoto.. 😉
Besause apples aplications and your tools are the best combination you can get!!!!!! 🙂

    GREAT STUFF!!!!!
    just one thing….
how come your images (even if a bit rotated) look perfect, and when I upload mine, they look sometimes “sort of bad distorted”??
    what shall I do?

    THANX A LOT!

    Si

  9. Felix says:

simon – are you using PostcardViewer v1.1? The flash quality setting is now “BEST” which should fix the image distortion.

  10. Ned Gould says:

Your image viewers are both amazing. Definitely the best on the web!

    Thanks!

  14. James Houser says:

Is there any way to export through IPhoto or any other way with a mac?

  15. Felix says:

James – There’s currently no iPhoto export available for PostcardViewer. If somebody would like to create one (possibly by modifiying the SimpleViewer iPhoto Export), I would be more than happy to post it. 🙂

    I really love the tool!
I’ve not used it yet…but I am actually loving the DEMO itself.
I am thinking of using PHOTO RSS provided by ZOTO.
if we can get that feature..then I am sure it will be a great add-on

  18. Azmal says:

    Fantastic stuff.

Just one question – is it possible to use swf files instead of image files? Please say there is!

    Many thanks.

  19. dimi says:

Were can i download it from?

  20. Marcel says:

    Your stuff r0cks.

My family photo album look amazing. Is there a way I could allow others to download the images?

    Thanks 😉

Question: when I use the export to SimpleViewer everything works great. But when I use the export to PostcardViewer it seems that it doesn’t work. After uploading it to the webserver automatically the extention upgrade.html is added, which is not recognized… HELP!

  22. Philip says:

    Dude,

    Your Freakin awesome!

    Thanx so so much….

Let me know if you need some stock photos!

  23. Ross says:

    Hey!

first i have to say that this viewer is a great way to show pictures! nice job!

But i have one problem: I use the viewer in a frame. When adding too much pictures they disappear along the top and bottom. Is there a possibility to implement a scrollbar when exceeding a certain height. The width can be configured by entering the right amount of collums. So no problem there. I could also reduce the out-zoom, but then the thumbs get too small.

I hope you could help me on this one!

    Regards,

Ross (all the way from The Netherlands)

  24. Orrin says:

wouldn’t it be cool if you could feed the PostcardViewer images from a flickr rss feed? that would be awesome! love the app

  25. Max says:

    Hello

I’m doing a wabsite on flash 5 (don’t ask why) and i was wondering if i could include postcard wiewer to my animation, changing the photos dirrectly into flash 5, in an code format or something licke that,

    thank you!

  26. Kevin says:

For some reason I can’t the captions to show up with my images. Everything works fine except for that. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

  27. Lex says:

Awesome! Just what I was looking for! Also causing me pain in the head. I have tried to use it on a webpage, together with a CCS navigation menu. All within a table structure. Using Firefox as browser everything works perfect. But when using Explorer I can see the menu but the content of the table with the postcards is invisible. Removing the entire menu makes the postcardviewer visible. Ofcourse I want to see them both together on one page… What am I doing wrong?

  28. Laura says:

Would you offer the .fla code? I’m trying to learn ActionScript and am interested in how you pulled this off. Thanks!

  29. Edward says:

Man thanks for this app. I love it very much!

  30. Thomas says:

Is it possible to have both a SimpleViewer and a PostcardViewer pointing to the same photos? So that you would have choice of interface as a viewer – without the need for having doubles of the photofiles.

  31. Quatog says:

The plugin link for the iphoto ->http://www.hagus.net/taxonomy/term/14 is now displaying ->unable to select database.

Can somebody post a new link for this plugin. Thanks
