I just found out that there is a new ‘Battle of the Planets’/G-Force/Gatchaman movie coming out!
I used to love BOTP as a kid in the 80s. The weirdness and the beautiful animation really made it stand out from the typical U.S. cartoon dross. It was only later that I found out the original Japanese version (Gatchaman) was a lot stranger and more violent.
It’s interesting that even though the show was butchered for the western market, the original spirit shone through. I wonder if as western kids we would have been able to handle the original version, or if we needed the sugar coating of more linear plot-lines, Casey Kasem and 7-Zark-7.

I hope it is ‘live action’. The Wackowski Bros should do it! They did a wonderful job with Speed Racer. BOTP would definately look great in their style and their visual delivery of a story is just beautiful. BOTP and SpeedRacer were created by the same crew in Japan, so why not ensure that the artistic delivery and style of BOTP and Speed Racer remain consistant in their ‘live action’ translations? Wackowskis would definately not disappoint!
I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THIS MOVIE. I LOVED THE SERIES AS A KID TOO, IT WAS THE BEST THING OUT AT THE TIME, AND TO ME IT STILL IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!
You fool. I love the Wackowski Bros… I love (the original) Speed Racer. But their version sucked. And they know it. Battle of the Planets CANNOT BE screwed up. If GI Joe is as good as the trailers look, I think that’s the production team to use. Word!
Hi! Cant wait for the movie to come out in 2010 hopefully I wont be stuck on a Mountain when it does pop into theaters. I have heard that someone said that John Goodman is gonna play a voice in it and another famous person cant spell his name so ill leave it out. I just got someone to send me 50 dvds of the old battle of the planets and i cant wait till next week when i get home so i can watch them. I even have the battle of the planets theme song on my mp3 player and even set on my cellphone ring tone. I have also been watching the old gatchaman cartoons in youtube and totally love the gatchaman song. If anyone has anything they want to get rid of or pictures and comic books of it I might be willing to pay a lot for it. pleaseeeee let me know thanks kel>
The series as a Kid and still know was a real treat, the SCIENCE, the NINJAS, the VEHICLES and the amazing costumes. I still want my own helmet with transparent beak. I cannot wait to see the GOD PHEONIX in the new cg movie. a piont of interest, I have a design magazine with a couple of pics from a LIVE ACTION scene from JAPAN. I not sure if it was from a advert, commercial or movie or t.v. show, around 2000. might be worth looking into.
