This suit allows one ardent fan to distinguish themselves from the crowd at film premieres. Comprised of a projector, speakers and a light system, controlled by an portable media player, the suits emits hysterical screams louder than the standard fan collective. As the target star approaches confessed messages are projected. When the wearer gets the attention from the object of their devotion, the suit rejoices by bursting into a climatic display continue Originally posted by Regine from we make money [...]

Celebrate springtime with modern perch! designs great for the indoor or outdoor garden. Brooklyn-based designer Amy Adams makes her wares out of earthenware and sculpts them into voluminous shapes using a low fire and non-toxic glaze. With little decoration, the design of the wares are certainly minimalist, however, we think their shapes are extremely expressive and dare we say, adorable? All ceramics can be easily cleaned with mild soap and water. They also come with a leather cord that was [...]

The Periodic Table of Typefaces. I have to admit that I like the concept, but the science nerd in me has issues with the execution. The shape roughly resembles the original table, but it fails to make any discernible connection between the typefaces.

One of the more convenient aspects is that the power pack charges quickly, [...]

I’ve been a fan of Steven Johnson since I first read Interface Culture close to a decade ago; I remember it as one of the most poignant and well written discussions of software – and the relationship between digitalness and humanness – that I’d ever read. It’s still ranks as one of the best articulations of the fleeting quality of designing for behavior; one of my favorite passages describes the elusive quality of the digital realm: For all the kinesis, the [...]

Though the global village is still suffering from the economic crisis and seeking for innovative solutions to recover, an emerging trend is becoming more and more established and leveraged as opportunities for future growth. Green is not only the new black any more. It will be the rainbow when the sun arises after the storm. 2009-2010 will be critical years for green product development, and this represents a highly compelling opportunity for the leading companies in China who want to invest [...]

But one thing is certain: all culture will be digital, and bridging the “digital divide” will be crucial if we don’t want to see our societies erode into users and losers. Integrating those who are marginalized by the [...]

Clay Shirky published an excellent essay on his blog on newspapers in the digital age. Trying to understand an industry that hangs on to wishful thinking not connected with the reality around us, Shirky evokes a previous revolution -- the one of the printing press: "That is what real revolutions are like. The old stuff gets broken faster than the new stuff is put in its place. The importance of any given experiment isn’t apparent at the moment it appears; [...]

A few weeks ago, Jeremy and I were invited to a mini-conference in Austria. At the conference were owners of some leading businesses whose primary operations were online. I found myself trying to explain to one of these bosses why his developers should be using microformats on his website. The boss in question was more business-inclined than technically-savvy so there was little point in me talking about ids and classes, or even HTML. I needed to explain what practical benefits microformats [...]
